Machining to specifications
In our CNC grinding service, we offer you both standard and specific machining options for cylindrical grinding of carbide. For machining to your specifications, we are happy to receive your drawing. Below are some examples of machining to specifications:
- Profile grinding
- Step grinding
- Full radius grinding
- Conical grinding
- Back taper grinding
- Calibre grinding
Profile grinding
Profile grinding is a CNC-controlled grinding technique that uses a shaped grinding wheel to grind complex contours and profiles in metal workpieces. This technique is used when high precision is required and is ideal for producing tools or parts with specific geometries.
Step grinding
By using step grinding, it is possible to provide workpieces with multiple diameters along the length of the workpiece. This operation is essential for tools used for creating a hole with multiple diameters that become progressively narrower towards the bottom. These tools are used to avoid additional operations such as countersinking and reaming.
- For example for step drills
Full radius grinding
With full radius grinding, transitions between surfaces or diameters are provided with a fully rounded radius, without sharp edges. This CNC machining is often used in precision tools where tensile stress is important. These offer better performance in applications where a sharp edge is less effective or causes more wear.
- For example for groove cutters and ball nose end mills
Conical grinding
When a part needs to be tapered, conical grinding offers the solution. This operation creates a precise taper along the length of the workpiece.
- For example for conical cutters
Back taper grinding
In back taper grinding, a tool becomes progressively narrower in diameter towards the neck. This operation reduces friction during drilling, improves chip removal and allows deeper drilling without jamming. It also reduces the risk of the tool breaking.
- For example for carbide drills
Calibre grinding
Using CNC-controlled grinding machines, calibres are ground down to micrometer level, making them suitable for checking critical dimensions within very close tolerances.
- For example for precise measurement instruments
Grinding shop
Standard machining options
Sawing
In the sawing area in our grinding shop, you can have rods cut to any length with the desired tolerance. If we don't have it, we can make it. This flexibility results for you in the availability of any desired (fix) length.
Grinding chamfers
Both rods with and without chamfer are in stock as standard. Because we can grind chamfers in our grinding shop, we can supply all our rods with chamfer. If required, we can also grind carbide with special chamfer to specification.
Grinding Weldon
Weldon grinding is a standard machining operation in our grinding shop. We also stock standard rods with Weldon. We can also grind Weldon flats to desired specifications. Also feel free to take a look at our Carbide shop.
Coolant hole connectors
We stock both rods with coolant holes with standard coolant hole connectors and those without. In addition, we can also grind coolant hole connectors to the required specifications.
Laser service
You can also have all our carbide (including preforms) lasered at our grinding shop. If required, we can provide our products with EAN codes, product codes, logos, symbols and matrix numbers. This allows the material to be traced at all times.
GSE Carbide is the specialist in carbide grinding
GSE Carbide is the grinding expert in machining of carbide rods. We combine automated CNC technology with in-depth material knowledge, delivering exclusively high-quality customised solutions. Whether for series production or single pieces: reliability and precision are paramount in our carbide grinding service.
CNC grinding
CNC grinding is a machining technique that uses computer-controlled grinding machines to perform extremely precise operations. CNC stands for ‘Computer Numerical Control’, which means that the grinding machine operates fully automatically based on a digital design. This makes CNC grinding ideally suited for machining complex shapes and contours.
Advantages of CNC grinding
- High precision within the smallest tolerances
- Customisation according to drawings for series or single productions
- Consistent and repeatable quality
- High efficiency through automation
CNC grinding up to 3 µm accuracy
GSE Carbide offers a specialised CNC grinding service, focusing on customised solutions for both large series and single pieces. Thanks to years of experience and modern machinery, we can meet the highest demands in CNC grinding.
Carbide grinding
Carbide grinding is a specialist operation that requires expert knowledge and high-end machinery. Carbide is known for its extreme hardness and wear resistance. This makes the material ideal for tools and parts that need to perform under tough conditions, but it also makes machining it more complex.
Diamond grinding wheels
To machine carbide precisely, we use diamond grinding wheels. Diamond is the only abrasive hard enough to cut carbide effectively and in a controlled manner. These grinding wheels ensure a fine finish, minimal wear and a long service life of the tool.
Precision grinding with modern CNC grinding machines
Precision grinding requires high levels of craftsmanship and high-end machinery. At GSE Carbide, we use modern CNC grinding machines specifically designed for the precision grinding of high-performance metals, including carbide. These machines offer unparalleled control over the grinding process.
Your advantages
- Precise and reliable grinding of carbide
- Tight tolerances and consistent quality
- Reliable partner for precision and repeatability
Precision
In the measurement room, we can carefully measure all our products with accurate measuring equipment. This control ensures the precision of our products. This ensures that our carbide rods are within the specified tolerance. On request, we can also supply all our products including measurement reports.
